Hybrid mass damper: theoretical and experimental power flow analysis

Abstract In this paper, a hybrid mass damper (HMD) and its hyperstability thanks to power flow approach are studied. The HMD proposed combines an active control system with optimal passive device. initial is electromagnetic Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) the law modified velocity feedback phase compensator. resulting controller theoretically hyperstable ensures fail-safe behavior. Experiments performed validate numerical simulation provide good results in terms of vibration attenuations. Both excitation from bottom frequency domain shock response time tested analyzed. different flows reactive powers estimated numerically experimentally on inertial (passive active) HMD. More over, through mechanical analogy system, it shown that device can be seen as realization inerter based tuned-mass-damper associated sky-hook damper. Observations analysis insight into behavior imposed by specific law.
